Magic Graves

Magic Graves - Ilona Andrews, Jeaniene Frost

This was a short story anthology between two authors in the Urban Fantasy genre, containing two short stories and several excerpts for upcoming books. I wound up skipping the filler excerpts and focused on the short stories.

Jeaniene Frost's story, One for the Money, features a Cat and Bones story, set shortly after the events of Destined for an Early Grave. It really wasn't that interesting, save for the glimpse into how Cat's Mom is doing and the closure I believe we got from the events of Reckoning.

Ilona Andrews' story, A Questionable Client, was slightly more interesting, but as it is billed as a prequel story, it was bitterly disappointing. The world building I had wanted in the first Kate Daniels book wasn't here, instead the author assumes the reader knows what she's talking about. Aside from that, the plot was somewhat anti-climactic and uninteresting, even with the folktales/mythology element.

All in all, a quick way to end an evening, but largely unnecessary and uninteresting.
