I went into this with somewhat high expectations, but I was somewhat disappointed. I was hoping it would be a lot easier to connect to the characters than it was for me.
Zoe and Alex didn't seem like they would be a good fit for each other. They were definitely a case of opposites attracts! I really didn't like Alex's reckless streak, though his time off ended up mellowing it. Zoe was too afraid of risk to do much of anything, and as a result, she almost lost out on relationships with both her father and Alex.
The writing was decent, but the characterization was such a problem that it held the book back from its full potential. I'll give the next book a shot, but with much lower standards.
