This was quite the enjoyable book! It reminded me a little of Pamela Clare's Skin Deep, but at the same time it was rather unique itself!
I liked how Ember always saw beneath Zeke's scars to the man he was. I also liked how she was understanding of her father, even though he had lashed out at her the way that he had. She surprised me with her single parent status, and yet did what she had to in order to keep her son safe.
Zeke was interesting to me, and yet I feel that we only scratched the surface of him. I wanted to know more about his family and why he kept his distance from them. I wanted to know what his post injury recovery plan included, and what his prognosis was for his brain healing. There were a lot of unanswered questions with him, and it irritated me.
All things considered, it was a good book, but I wanted a lot more than what I got.
