Little House in the Big Woods

Little House in the Big Woods - Laura Ingalls Wilder, Garth Williams I've been wanting to do a re-read of all the books I read as a child, so when a group member mentioned that they'd be starting it soon, I asked if she'd like a reading buddy and dove in!

The book was as entertaining as I remembered, but I also looked at it through the lens of a homeschooling teacher as well. I found it to be an interesting and entertaining look at some of our nation's history and how people lived in those times. It made me eager to read it to my son!

The characters were easy to connect with and I enjoyed seeing how they changed as the seasons wore on, so that a year had passed within the pages of this book. I loved how the disciplined the children with love, even though there were instances of punishment that might not be accepted in this day and age.

All in all, it was quite enjoyable to revisit this series and I am looking forward to the next book!
