This book was a good end to the series. It was also much better than [b:Carnal Gift|12450873|Carnal Gift (Blakewell/Kenleigh Family Trilogy, #2)|Pamela Clare|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1314593415s/12450873.jpg|1552738]! The story kept me engaged throughout and I really empathized with the suffering that Nicholas had went through. He was such a tortured hero, but in a very realistic way. Likewise, Elspeth was a tormented heroine, but also was the perfect match for Nicholas. I loved the historical accuracy of this installment, though the author does inform the reader in her note that she did take liberties with timing. All things considered, I'd probably read another Pamela Clare Historical, but I will definitely wait a good while before doing so!
