Fatal Deception

Fatal Deception - Marie Force I read this right after reading an In Death novel by Nora Roberts. I was struck by how eerily similar the characters were. Sam came across as a somewhat less classy version of Eve, while Nick was a bit of a bumbling version of Roarke. However, there was a dichotomy in the "crews" of each couple, and I liked Sam and Nick's crews just a bit more, both due to their interconnectedness and their careers in the same fields as Sam and Nick. That detail made them more relevant to the story than Mavis, Trina and crew from the In Death series.

This story was a bit far fetched, in my opinion, but at the same time I could see it happening in today's political climate. That's not to say I didn't enjoy the story, because I did. I had no clue who was behind things ahead of time, so when the pieces fell into place, I was just as surprised as the characters!

All things considered, I'm enjoying both series for different reasons and plan to continue them both!
